에집트의 왕녀와 결혼하여 동맹국을 맺었다. 국내 건설과 국경의 방어에 힘쓰고,
예루살렘궁전과 성전 건축을 포함하여 장대한 도시를 건설하였다. 기록에 의하면 [열왕기상 5.10, 11.3]
솔로몬의 지혜는 동방의 어떤 사람도 따를 수 없었고 지혜있다는 에집트의 누구도 따를 수 없었다.
솔로몬은 무려 칠백 명이나 되는 후궁을 거느렸고 그 외에 수청드는 여자가 삼백 명이나 되었다.


Two venerable scholars were talking about the King Solomon.
"He was a mighty wise king," said one of the philosophers.
"All those wives and concubines; sometimes I wonder how he arranged
to provide the necessary food for all those women."
"How he fed all those women does'nt interest me," said the second sage,
"I just wonder what he was eating himself."
