시편 42(41)장 2절의 LATIN text 를 노랫말로 쓴

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina 의 motet Sicut cervus 입니다.

sicut [adv & conj] : as, just as, as it were, __처럼, __하듯

cervus -i [m] : a hart, stag, deer, (수)사슴

desidero -are : to long for, wish for, 그리워하다

 

ad [prep + acc] : to, up to, near to

fons -tis [m] : a spring, fountain, fresh or spring water, 샘(물)

fontes : fons -tis 의 목적격(accusative) 복수어형

aqua -ae [f] : water, 물 // aquarum : 소유격(genitive)복수

Nota Bene

 

[參考-1]

- cervus 의 정확한 의미는 숫사슴이고 문법상으로 남성명사임.

- King James version 에도 cervus 는 the hart 로 번역되어 있고,

  독일어성서에는 der Hirsch 로 번역되고 있는데, 모두 숫사슴을 뜻함.

  A hart means a male deer, espesially a male red deer over five years old.

- 불란서말성서 La Bible de Jerusalem 에는 [영문판 The Jerusalem Bible 도 마찬가지] 

  이 부분이 un serf [남성명사, stag] 가 아닌 une biche [여성명사, dow] 로 표기되어 있고

  히브리原典에는 desiderat 부분의 어휘가 여성동사로써 기록되어 있다고 함. 

- Vulgata 성서 原典인 희랍어[70人譯]성서에는 un serf 의 뜻으로 기록됨.

 

[參考-2]

- 시냇물 보다는 차라리 (옹달)샘물 쪽이 直譯 의미에 가까움.

  독일어성서에는 이 부분이 nach frischem Wasser (for fresh water) 로 번역됨.

- 그러나 넓은 뜻의 fons 에는 stream, lake, origin, source, etc 도 포함됨.

- Latin dictionary 에는 남성명사 animus -i 도 함께 실려 있음.

 

[參考-4]

- 여기서 Deus 는 호격(vocative case)에 해당됨.

- 이 부분을 하느님(이신) 당신을 의 늬앙스로 표현하려면, ad te Deum 임.

 

Appendix

 

시편 42(41)장 2절에서 5절까지 입니다.

LATIN version 은 BIBLIA SACRA VULGATA LXX 를 인용하였고 

英文本은  Douay-Rheims version 을 인용하였습니다.

위 motet 의 LATIN text 와 약간의 차이가 있읍니다. 참고로 

최민순신부님의 번역본을 함께 적었습니다 ...

 

Quemadmodum desiderat cervus  .....   As the hart panteth

ad fontes aquarum  .....  after the fountains of water;
ita desiderat anima mea  .....  so my soul panteth

ad te Deus .....  after thee, O God.

 

암사슴이 시냇물을 그리워하듯 하느님,

제 영혼이 당신을 이토록  그리워 합니다.

암사슴이 시냇물을 그리워하듯,

내 영혼 하느님을 그리나이다.

Sitivit anima mea  .....   My soul hath thirsted

ad Deum fortem vivum  .....  after the strong living God;
quando veniam et parebo  .....   when shall I come and appear

ante faciem Dei  .....  before the face of God?

 

제 영혼이 하느님을, 제 생명의 하느님을 목말라합니다.

그 하느님의 얼굴을 언제나 가서 뵈올 수 있겠습니까?

내 영혼 하느님을, 생명의 하느님을 애타게 그리건만,

그 하느님 얼굴을 언제나 가서 뵈오리까?

Fuerunt mihi lacrimae meae  .....  My tears have been

panis die ac nocte  .....  any bread day and night,
dum dicitur mihi cotidie  .....   whilst it is said to me daily:

ubi est Deus tuus  .....  Where is thy God?

 

사랍들이 제게 온종일 "네 하느님은 어디 계시느냐?" 빈정거리니

낮에도 밤에도 제 눈물이 저의 음식이 됩니다.

"네 하느님, 어디 있나!" 날마다 말들 할 때,

자나깨나 빵이런 듯 눈물이오이다. 

Haec recordatus sum  .....   These things I remembered,

et effudi in me animam meam  .....  and poured out my soul in me:
quoniam transibam  .....   for I shall go over

in loco tabernaculi admirabilis  .....  into the place of the wonderful tabernacle,
usque ad domum Dei  .....  even to the house of God:
in voce exsultationis et confessionis  .....  With the voice of joy and praise;
sonus epulantis  .....  the noise of one feasting.

 

영광스러우신 분의 초막, 하느님의 집까지 환호와 찬미 소리 드높이

축제의 무리와 함께 행진하던 일들을 되새기며 저의 영혼이 북받쳐 오릅니다.

축제의 모임, 환희와 찬미 소리 드높든 그 가운데 무리에 섞인 이 몸,

앞장서 하느님 집으로 갔었건마는, 그 일을 되새기며 마음은 속에서 녹아나나이다.
